Alaska is a special place. Whether you're inside Denali National Park taking in the wonder that is North America's highest-reaching mountain, down on the Kenai Peninsula halibut fishing or viewing whales, or rafting one of the state's many crystal-clear and scenic rivers, you will always see something that makes you stop and say, "wow!"
Opportunities to have more experiences such as these and help others have similar experiences is what drove our decision to purchase Box Canyon Cabins in 2017. As the saying goes, "Life is short, so enjoy it to the fullest." After spending most of our careers as professionals in strategic communications and business, respectively, we were more than ready for this next phase of our lives.
My passion for Alaska actually began as a teenager many, many (did I say many?) years ago, when my parents relocated from Charleston, South Carolina to Fairbanks. I lived with my parents in Fairbanks for three years before moving back to the Palmetto State to attend college, which is where I met Rene. While our careers kept us in the Southeast, we spent nearly every vacation through the years in Alaska, traveling around the state sightseeing, hiking, fishing and camping. Some of my favorite memories come from the 100-plus mile canoe trips I've taken with friends on waterways up north, near the Yukon River and Arctic Circle.
But for Rene and I, the appeal of Alaska goes beyond its exhilarating beauty, magnificent wildlife and exciting outdoor activities. We've always been equally impressed with the quality of the people in this last frontier. You see, no matter where we have traveled, the people we've met have always received us warmly, treated us kindly and made us feel welcomes.
Our move to Seward and ownership of Box Canyon Cabins fulfills our dreams to own a lodging property and spend more time in this special place. Looking to the future, our expectations are simple. We plan to share many new experiences, make many new friends and help our guests create many lasting memories.
We thank you for your interest in Box Canyon Cabins. We hope to see you soon!
